Picnic:
There are 8 shaded picnic areas (2 of which are covered) and over 120 tables for your picnics!
It is permitted to leave the site during the day (after notifying the ticket office), so don't forget to bring a cool box in your car.
Restaurants:
There are 3 eateries within the museum. La Taverne restaurant and L’auberge d’Hégenheim self-service serve regional food, while you’ll find bread, tartes flambées, snacks, cakes, etc. at the bakery.
These eateries are managed by an independent company and for any information, please contact them using this number: +33 369 585 025.
Bring your dog:
Four-legged companions are of course welcome free of charge. Owners are asked to keep them on a lead! Please note: for safety reasons, it is not possible to take your dog on a boat or tractor ride.
Several doggie bars are available at the various food outlets, as well as at the Maison des Goûts et des Couleurs. We would like to thank the lucky owners for collecting and disposing of their pets' faeces in the bins. Please note that there are no canisacs at the museum.
Animal welfare:
Animal welfare is a priority at the Écomusée d'Alsace. Our animals, mainly from ancient or local breeds, are reared in conditions that respect their natural needs. They are provided with specially adapted spaces, a balanced diet and attentive care from our dedicated team.
These animals play an essential role in recreating the rural life of yesteryear, while raising our visitors' awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity and respecting living beings.
If you have any questions or concerns about our practices, please don't hesitate to contact us!
The museum's paths and alleys contain gravel which can make it difficult for wheelchairs and pushchairs to get around.
Wheelchairs are available from reception at the Écomusée d'Alsace. They are available free of charge for the duration of your visit. Remember to make your request when you go to the ticket office.
Special rates have been introduced: those accompanying wheelchair users are entitled to free admission, and disabled visitors holding a disability card have access to the reduced rate. Accompanying dogs are accepted.
Access to the car park is free, and solar panels cover the driveways to protect vehicles from the sun and bad weather.
The museum car park has several free spaces for motorhomes, and you can stay overnight. Please note, however, that this is only a car park and not a service area.
The car park does not yet have charging points for electric vehicles.
People eligible for the reduced rate:

Leaving the museum during the day
Yes, you can leave the museum at any time during the day, just ask the reception staff. Please note, however, that you must leave the museum at least one hour before the official closing time.
A SSIAP officer is on duty at the museum during opening hours and patrols the visitor circuit. In the event of an incident, you can call the emergency number 06 62 17 61 32 for assistance. You can also call any of the museum's staff, who are in constant contact with the SSIAP officer in order to set the emergency chain in motion.
